Are You a Candidate for Male Liposuction?

Liposuction is about the third most popular cosmetic surgery among men in 2019. After eyelid rejuvenation and facelifts, we have seen how men are flocking in large numbers towards this personal revamping procedure.

Men love how this procedure has the power to transform their physique and make them more attractive almost instantly. From problematic areas to nearly invisible scars, we wouldn’t be wrong to describe liposuction as somewhat magical.

We know how body fat can be stubborn, and those ugly small pockets here and there can put you off anytime. Hence, we’ve created a guide here to help you determine whether or not you are a candidate for liposuction.

Male Liposuction- What it is

The name itself is self-explanatory. Liposuction is an act of sucking out pockets of fat with a thin hollow tube, cannula. It does so by disturbing the skin underneath all your fat and sucking it out. With the help of technology, this procedure is the least harmful but highly effective, with results that last a lifetime.

It only depends on how well you maintain your weight post the surgery. The body areas most common for liposuction include:

·      The neck and chin area

·      Upper arms

·      Ankles

·      Thighs

·      Calves

·      Hips

·      Flanks

·      Buttocks

·      Abdomen

While the recovery itself may take a couple of months, the procedure is uncomplicated. You can return to work within a couple of days after your procedure, but you must refrain from returning to your exercising regime for at least two weeks.

Swelling itself may take up to three months to reduce, while your final results can take anywhere between three to six months to take shape. The bottom line is to exercise great patience and extra care to pull the whole thing off successfully.

Are You Eligible for a Male Liposuction?

If you have asked yourself that question, you are on the right path. Excessive body fat has been a struggle for nearly all of us, at some point or the other in life. However, if you’ve got a few pounds on you, do you think liposuction is the only way out? Well, not necessarily.

Now, the fact to understand here is that liposuction is not a primary “weight loss” plan. It is only here to treat that body fat, which is so relentless that it refuses to budge despite the concerted efforts you make. Hence, if you have some chunks off at on you but have not been able to lose it with diet and exercise, only then liposuction might be a suitable option for you.

We often find our body areas such as the hips, abdomen, thighs, etc., retaining ungainly fat. Roughly speaking, lipo is a good idea for those who are around 10lbs within their ideal weight. The process would get you rid of that excess fat and reach your goal.

Beyond the 10lbs point, specialists typically recommend sticking to your dieting and exercising regime to reach your goal weight, and consultation at this point would be best.

As a rule, here is the criterion one has to meet to earn legibility for a lipo procedure:

·      Own relatively firm and elastic skin as well as good muscle tone

·      You must be a non-smoker. If you’re not, it is best to highlight this to the cosmetic surgeon and seek advice. Smoking is detrimental and can exacerbate the risks of the surgery and may also prolong your recovery.

·      Now we did say lipo works like magic, but of course, we meant that realistically. Hence, it would help if you came to the clinic with realistic expectations. If you’re a perfectionist, perhaps you may want to reconsider your decision about the process.

·      It would help if you were in sound mental and physical health. If you’re suffering from an ongoing infection or chronic medical issues for which you are under treatment, you may not be eligible for the procedure.

Questions to Ask at Your Consultation

Ask a lot of questions. If you’re a potential candidate, you will do the best thing by asking tons and tons of questions before your surgery, after the surgery, and while you are recovering. If you don’t know what to ask and how to begin, here are some notes to take down.

·      Which is the best place for my liposuction?

·      Where should the procedure take place?

·      What do I need to do while in recovery?

·      What must I refrain from during recovery?

·      Should I take off from work or school? How many days are necessary to recoup post the surgery?

·      Is the surgery painful?

·      What are the side effects? Are there any risks?

·      Will I have some scarring? Should I expect a permanent scar for life?

·      How long before the result will appear?

·      Is there any way I can reduce the scars?

·      Is liposuction the only option for me?

Consultation is the best way to determine how eligible you are for the procedure. It would be best to discuss everything from your medical history to your goals with the cosmetic surgeon at this appointment. Such decisions have a major impact on your appearance and your life, and the more knowledge and preparedness you gather, the more successful it will be for you.

Final Thoughts

Liposuction is the process of removing unwanted body fat from certain body areas through surgical types of equipment. Although the process is safe and effective, it is better to research well, consult at length with a specialist, and weigh the pros and cons before opting for the procedure. With medical histories and medicines, you may not be an eligible candidate, while honest physical evaluations with a doctor help you meet your goals.
