What is a Mini BBL?

BBL or Brazilian Butt Lift is a procedure that includes lipo-contouring of the waist and back area. It also involves the transfer of the fat to the buttock. In contrast, mini BBL is a procedure that usually involves less liposuction and fixes specific areas of the butt, hip dips, or provide a very natural projection.

A mini-BBL begins with liposuction. In which, a surgeon takes out fat from your body, processes it, and then re-injects it in your hips and buttocks. Your plastic surgeon will perform liposuction on the particular areas discussed beforehand and collect the fat in a specialized system to separate the liposuction fluid from the fat cells.

After that, they inject the fat into the marked parts of your butt. Generally, surgeons graft / inject fat into the hips or thighs, based on the requirement of the patient. Additionally, the surgery also involves few small incisions for the liposuction cannulas that are then sutured closed.

How to Find the Right Plastic Surgeon?

Check out our blog article on how to chose a plastic surgeon for cosmetic surgery. The truth is that no one surgeon is suitable for everyone, even if they are very popular on Instagram.

Cosmetic surgery can be a positive life-changing experience. It is worth doing it RIGHT so remember do not to rush into anything.

What is the Cost of mini-BBL?

Like most cosmetic procedures such as mini tummy tuck, the cost can vary significantly based on your where you live and plastic surgeons fees. However, mostly, it ranges anywhere between $3,000 and $15,000. Yes, there is a large range of pricing. This is because some people only need one procedure to obtain the shape they desire. In contrast, others may need several procedures to achieve their results.

Some patients do not have sufficient body fat (usually anything under a 18 BMI) for the procedure. Other curvy patients have fat pockets that surgeons can reduce through liposuction to improve their thighs and buttocks. Additionally, surgeons recommend that patients should have good health and proper weight. Your general practitioner / primary care physician will also check you thoroughly and give you medical clearance if you are healthy. This is because doctors ensure that you are completely healthy individuals who do not have risk factors for an elective surgery.

What is Your Recovery Like?

You can divide the BBL recovery period into three phases: few days, few weeks, and several months. In your initial few days, you main focus will be rest and recovery. During your first few weeks, you can resume your regular routine and job with some modifications (no sitting on your butt). In the first few weeks, your swelling will decrease, and you will also notice the healing of bruises. In that case, you can start to go to the gym or enjoy travel. At the last stage, you will observe the remaining swelling resolved, and the transferred fat is there to stay.

From the day of your surgery to the day you get fully recovered, you need to avoid putting pressure on your body's grafted area. Patients who are side or back sleepers need to sleep on their stomachs. On the other hand, you need to completely stop excessive heavy or strenuous activities for several weeks.

You also need to understand that maintenance is important; otherwise, the results are only temporary. In ideal cases, approximately 70% of the transferred fat will survive.

How Much Fat Will Survive After mini-BBL?

Fat grafting is one of the most complex procedures. This is why not all the transferred fats survive in mini BBL surgery. Generally, in fat transfer surgeries, around 50 to 70% of the fat survives. Because of the swelling in your body parts, you will be able to see the result to some extent after 8 to 12weeks of the surgery. For instance, if 1L of fat tissues is injected into your each buttock, you can expect the survival of around 700 mls of fat.

You also need to understand that fat is a living tissue. It also changes according to the weight fluctuations. This is why if you gain more weight, you will see your fats expanding. But if you lose some weight, your fat tissues can compress greatly. So, maintaining a stable weight is essential to keep the shape and size that you prefer.

Bottom Line

In a nutshell, mini BBL surgery is a simple surgery that needs a maximum of a year to fully recovered. The procedure may seem less complex and time-consuming, but still, you need to take all the precautions that your surgeon asks. Make sure to follow the safety and precaution guidelines if you want your desired outcome.
