What is the Best Month for Cosmetic Surgery?

Our patients agree it is December! Really anytime in winter most patients love to have plastic surgery. Most of our patients love December for their cosmetic surgeries. Work holidays help decrease the number of days patients have to take off from work. Most offices are more understanding about working from home around the holidays as well. This flexibility can definitely helps with recovery period. As an added bonus, bulky winter clothes make it easy to hide any post-operative garments. By May / June you should definitely be ready for the summer and swimsuit weather!

Below is a list of surgeries recommend by season. The most important factor is to have time for recovery. It is not worth compromising your results by not having adequate recovery care. For most breast procedures, you will not be able to lift more than 10 pounds for the first two weeks. If you have young children it is critical for you to have help available. If you have the freedom to plan your surgery at any time with the proper recovery care, then please see below for a general guide. Your plastic surgeon will be able to help as well with timing.

Winter

Winter is an ideal time to undergo breast and body plastic surgery. Breast Augmentation, breast lifts, tummy tucks, and body liposuction are all great procedures to have in the winter. The colder weather allows for sweaters, tights, and scarves which all will help to conceal swelling, bruising, and post-operative garments.

Spring

For most plastic surgery practices, spring is the busiest season for plastic surgery. After the holidays and the busy start to a New Year, people finally have time to focus on themselves. Patients also start to plan their spring break and summer plans and realize they also want to plan some improvements for themselves to be ready for swim suit season.

Summer

For most places, summer is not recommended for plastic surgery. Bandages and post-operative garments are sweaty and hot during the summer. In hot climates if you commit to an indoor recovery, it might make sense to do some procedures as long as you spend your recovery indoors in the air conditioning. Make sure you are not missing out on the summer fun though!

Fall

Typically after spring and summer, most people are at a great weight and may be ideal condition for a tummy tuck or other body contouring procedure. The outside weather may make it great to relax and enjoy during your recovery as well.
